The NPORS Lorry Loader training course aims to provide delegates with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to operate a Lorry Loader both safely and efficiently. 

This NPORS course covers both practical and theoretical aspects to operating a lorry loader with the NPORS test at the end.

To complete the course you need a CITB Health Safety and Environment test (known as the touch screen test) dated within the last 2 years.

    NPORS Lorry Loader Agenda

    The course agenda will teach candidates the following -

    • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a plant operator
    • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer's handbook and other sources of information, regulations and legislation applicable to the particular machine to be used
    • Be able to locate and identify the major components of the vehicle and loader crane and explain their functions
    • Be able to locate and identify all operating controls and explain their functions
    • Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with the manufacturer's and legislative requirements
    • Configure the vehicle and loader crane ready for travel
    • Configure the machine for travel and manoeuvre it safely across varying terrain in open and confined areas
    • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
    • Manoeuvre the machine to the work area and correctly configure in readiness to carry out lifting duties
    • Correctly deploy the stabilisers according to stated manufacturer's specifications
    • Comply with all requirements for rated capacity indicators or load moment indicators
    • Identify weights and centres of gravity of loads to be used
    • Carry out lifting operations using the full capabilities of the loader crane
    • Position loads accurately at designated locations including onto and from the vehicle
    • Identify, fit and remove various attachments and lifting accessories as appropriate
    • Minimise load swing and ensure load security on the vehicle
    • Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures

    NPORS Lorry Loader Training Course Assessment

    Candidates will take a multiple choice test, and complete a practical assessment. Successful candidates will receive a NPORS Operator Card which lasts for 5 years. 

    Who Should Attend?

    This course is aimed at people who require a formal qualification for operating a Lorry Loader.

    CSCS Logo

    After booking your course please let us know if you require the NPORS/CSCS Card (required for construction industry) or the traditional NPORS card (suitable for sectors other than construction).

    If you require the CSCS logo then on successful completion of your course you will be issued with a red trained operator card valid for 2 years in which time an NVQ for the relevant plant category must be completed. A blue competent operators card is then issued which is valid for 5 years.

    All operators who require the NPORS/CSCS card must have completed the CSCS HSE Operatives touch screen test within the last 2 years.
