The NPORS Crane / Lift Supervisor course is designed for workers that already have a basic construction industry and site experience and skills in slinging and lifting operations.

This NPORS course enables candidates to competently and safely execute the role of crane/lift supervisor and pass the required NPORS test at the end.

To complete the course you need a CITB Health Safety and Environment test (known as the touch screen test) dated within the last 2 years.

    NPORS Crane / Lift Supervisor Agenda

    • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a crane / lift supervisor
    • Explain the importance of locating and identifying different types of lifting equipment and lifting accessories. Explain their basic construction, uses, applications and functions
    • Demonstrate how to interpret and extract information on all relevant documentation
    • Explain and demonstrate diverse types of communication methods used for lifting purposes
    • Explain procedures for placing non-serviceable items out-of-service
    • Explain the function and use of the RCIs and anti-collision systems and use the information provided
    • Explain setting up, erection, levelling and dismantling requirements for diverse types of lifting equipment and lifts
    • Set up exclusion zone explaining actions required for emergency actions and identify overhead hazards
    • Identify potential hazards and unsafe lifting practices using different lifting scenarios
    • Explain the importance of checking the security of various types of loads and lifting accessories, explain the procedures ensuring load balance and integrity
    • Supervise the movement of loads to different types of locations using different methods of communication
    • Explain all Environmental considerations and explain how factors such
    • Carry out all out-of –service and securing procedures

    NPORS Crane / Lift Supervisor Training Course Assessment

    Candidates will take a multiple choice test, and complete a practical assessment. Successful candidates will receive a NPORS Operator Card which lasts for 5 years. 

    Who Should Attend?

    This course will enable you to undertake the duties of a crane supervisor as defined by the appointed person. You will learn how to comply with legislation, regulations, Codes of Practice and industrial requirements.

    CSCS Logo

    After booking your course please let us know if you require the NPORS/CSCS Card (required for construction industry) or the traditional NPORS card (suitable for sectors other than construction).

    If you require the CSCS logo then on successful completion of your course you will be issued with a red trained operator card valid for 2 years in which time an NVQ for the relevant plant category must be completed. A blue competent operators card is then issued which is valid for 5 years.

    All operators who require the NPORS/CSCS card must have completed the CSCS HSE Operatives touch screen test within the last 2 years.
