The CPCS A66 Compact Crane Novice course is suitable for novice operators who have never used an compact crane before and are looking to obtain the CPCS Red Card.
This CPCS course covers both practical and theoretical aspects to operating a compact crane (mini crane), with the CPCS technical test at the end.
To complete the course you need a CITB Health Safety and Environment test (known as the touch screen test) dated within the last 2 years.

Respond to the recognised signals for controlling crane operations
Decide whether a particular load is within the capacity of the crane
Carry out minor adjustments and routine maintenance
Understand the capabilities of the equipment and any relevant safety precautions, including the out-of-service procedure
Operate safe-load indicators and overload warning devices
Understand the effect of the working radius on the lifting capacity of the machine
Recognise the principles of safe slinging, the types and capacities of lifting gear, security and balance of load
Observe the statutory regulations in respect of lifting equipment and the operator’s own legal responsibilities

CPCS A66 Compact Crane Novice Course Assessment
Candidates will take a verbal theory test, and complete a practical assessment. Successful candidates will receive a 2 Year CPCS Category A66 Red Trained Operator License.
Who Should Attend?
This CPCS course is suitable for novice operators who have little or no experience for the A66 Compact Crane and are looking to obtain the CPCS Red Card.
Further Training
Once you have achieved your Red CPCS Trained Operator Card it lasts for 2 years. During these 2 years you must work towards and achieve your NVQ in Plant Operations to upgrade to a Blue CPCS Competence Card.

On successful completion of the course candidates will receive a certificate of attendance.
When will I receive my joining instructions?
You will receive course joining instructions 7 to 10 days prior to course commencement. If you book within this 7 to 10 time period then your joining instructions are emailed within 24 hours of when your booking was placed.
