This SMSTS refresher course will enable individuals that currently hold a valid Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate to maintain their certification.

To keep certification up to date holders must refresh their skills and knowledge every five years through SMSTS Refresher courses.

    What You Will Learn

    After completing this course you will understand:
    • Recent developments within construction, legislation and health, safety, welfare and environmental issues
    • How to identify measures to use in the practical implementation of responsibilities established by new legislation and new working practices

    • Risk assessment and method statements
    • Explanation and overviews of construction legislation
    • Planning health and safety for projects
    • Managing contractors
    • Awareness of an organisation’s responsibilities and duties
    • The procedure of an accident occurring on site and the process following the accident
    SMSTS Refresher Course

    How Long Does The Course Take?

    This is a 2 day CITB course.

    Assessment & Certification

    At the end of this course candidates must sit an exam paper consisting of 25 questions. Certification is issued by the CITB - Construction Industry Training Board (Site Safety Plus)

    Who Is This SMSTS Refresher Course For?

    This course is for you if you have a valid SMSTS certificate and need to complete a refresher before your SMSTS expires.

    To attend this course you must have a current in date SMSTS certificate or a confirmation email from CITB giving an extension.

    Claiming a CITB Grant

    For companies that are CITB registered it is possible to claim £60 for each delegate who completes this course. In order for the grant to be claimed the company name and CITB levy number must be included on the delegates information form which is completed before the course starts.
